Hacking @
Hayfield
The word Hacking was derived from the term Hawking.
Nobles would enjoy riding out with a hawk perched on their
arm to hunt small game.
Nowadays everyone can enjoy riding out in the countryside,
escaping the pressures of life and being with nature.
Paddock
Hacks
Paddock
Hacks suit the complete beginner as a first time riding experience.
Starting on a quiet horse in the sand paddock riders are taught
the basics of how to stop, start, and steer their mounts before
riding out in the park for half an hour while accompanied
by a competent leader.
Paddock Hacks are safe and fun and also make a great activity
for a birthday party or a special occasion!
Walk/Trot
Hacks
Suitable
for the more confident rider as a logical progression from
paddock hacks.
Including mounting, these rides are an hour long and involve
a peaceful walk and trot around the park taking in the scenery
at a leisurely pace.
All hacks are accompanied by a mounted escort.
Canter Hacks
For the
more adventurous! Another opportunity to enjoy the beauty
of the park but at a slightly faster pace!
Riders should be competent and secure in the canter and capable
of going that little bit faster as there is a world of difference
between a slow canter hack and a canter hack.
Cautious riders should ask for a slow canter hack as experienced
riders will be expected to be competent on a more spirited
grade of horse under most circumstances.
Rides are accompanied by a mounted escort who will at all
times govern the ride in the interests of safety to the standard
of the least competent rider or to accommodate the most difficult
horse.
