Hayfield is Not a Dealing Yard.

We can and do find our members horse and ponies and are happy to advise them regarding the wisdom of a prospective purchase but we do not make a trade of buying and selling horses and ponies.  That said, we will sell horses or ponies which are tired of school work if leasing them out or resting them at pasture seems not to revitalise them.  In such cases school horses often prove to be a sensible buy for people who are looking for a predictable horse or pony to ride.

Our policy of leasing to riders with appropriate experience has proved to be a good one which helps our members avoid many risks and disappointments which often come with buying without expert help and on the open market.

Every year we are given horses and ponies from people who do not want to sell them on the open market.  Often these are older horses and ponies which the family has not time to look after or ones with a small problem or quirk which makes them hard to sell.

Many of our friends who are professional riders find for us older experienced competition horses which are no longer able to win at their level.  Those riders know that a good riding school is a nice place for horses and ponies to live out a quieter life in retirement.

Even after the ponies’ tire of riding school life we lease them out for a peppercorn lease fee to centres where they continue to be loved and cared for doing walkies for little children.

Horses given to Hayfield Riding Club can be gift aided to the club bringing added value to the club which helps to fund young riders who need financial assistance.
